November 2009 @ Ipswich Locksmiths Neighbourhood Locks

November: The 'winter months' present some of the most challenging situations for the Locksmith. At this time of the year, there seems to be even more traffic about, than in the lighter months, and even the best torchlight available, is no substitute for daylight. But when the call comes in at Neighbourhood Locks in Ipswich, we are with you as quickly as possible, and always consider the safety aspect of someone locked-out, particularly the elderly. This time of the year, also sees more 'Lock-outs'. This last week alone, we've had a number of calls to OAPs who were locked out, all in very similar situations. But the good news, is that they each received 10% OAP Discount from Neighbourhood Locks, and of course our 'No Vat', and 'No Call-out Charge' policies, all helped keep the cost down, making Neighbourhood Locks, probably the most cost-effective full-time, Professional Locksmiths in Ipswich.

There are also Discounts available for 'Neighbourhood Watch' Members. We have worked with members, promoting awareness of better security, in areas that have suffered break-ins. We are constantly surprised at the amount of locks we see on front doors, that really are only suitable for bedroom doors, and though these would have been acceptable years ago, what with the stricter Insurance Standards, and the greater determination of burglars, it makes very good sense to have a 'branded', British Standard Approved lock on your door. These do not have to be expensive, but they will offer a greater deterrent to those who wish to unlawfully gain access to your property. Even the addition of 'rack bolts', or 'sash jammers' to the back door, which are reasonably priced, or an 'anti-key-fishing cover' to the letterbox, can make all the difference. ('Key-fishing', is one of the more recent techniques employed by the Burglar). People will happily spend a small fortune on a new TV set, but skimp on their locks, only calling upon us to upgrade their security, after a break-in. If you are a 'Neighbourhood Watch' Coordinator, or Member, and would like to discuss any aspect of security, please feel free to contact us on the number below.

When asked about 'Key cutting' here at Ipswich Locksmiths Neighbourhood Locks, we hear over and over that the Customer had had a key cut from a High-Street Shop, only to get home and try it, and find that it didn't work. While this can happen from time to time, we have minimised the chances of this, by offering our Key-cutting service while 'on-site'. This has several big advantages. Firstly it saves the Customer a trip, or in some cases 'trips', to town, and because we can try it out on the fitted lock, we can guarantee it will work. We carry a large number of blank keys, and are happy to take special orders, when needed, which can usually be with us quickly, and can be cut on-site to ensure they will work.

If you have any security concerns, please contact us on 01473622461, and we will be happy to advise you. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Customers throughout the year, a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe, New Year!
